Tray chic

I've been making and selling a lot of trays lately. I'm always on the lookout for old trays to work on.

Well, back to the chopping block.

Weekend Bounty

I found a few things to add to my stash this weekend.  My favorites were a journal from 1913 and a pastry decorating book with beautiful illustrations.

San Francisco once again

Just returned from San Francisco.  What a fun city.  I want to share some of the highlights.

Alemany Flea Market on Sunday morning.  Awesome shopping.  I bought a huge bag of broken jewelry to use for embellishments and some old books.  I had to buy things that were not too heavy to take back on the plane.  Believe me, there was plenty more to buy.  If you're ever in SF on a Sunday morning, I'd say this is a definite place to go.

Collage  and Timeless Treasures were both wonderful stores to visit, both filled with vintage ephemera treasures.  Here are some pictures to enjoy. The first is Collage and the others are Timeless Treasures.

I stopped in at Crown and Crumpet, which is an adorable place to have tea in Ghiardelli Square.  Lots of visual pleasure.

We thoroughly enjoyed the farmer's market on Saturday morning.  Sitting and eating breakfast on a bench next to the water was delightful.

Of course we ate a lot of good food, but one of our favorites for breakfast is Sears Fine Food.  This
is a San Francisco tradition.

Guess what

Can you guess what these tins contain?IMG_0474

If you said buttons, then you are right.  I definitely do not need more buttons, but I just couldn't walk away.

Hearts and buttons

Do I really need more buttons?  What do you think?  But I still couldn't pass them up.  Part of the fun is getting home with a dirty jar of buttons and then cleaning, sorting and admiring them.  IMG_0467

Just finished two more hearts.  Love making these.IMG_0469IMG_0471

Flea market happiness

It doesn't take much to make me happy.  I found a few trinkets at the flea market to keep me busy.  Have a look.

Vintage wallpaper

Don't get me wrong.  I'm still loving mosaics, but I felt the urge to work in another medium for awhile. My heart belongs to vintage wallpaper for now.  I've been covering frames and clipboards so far. Who knows what will be next.  It's a little bit like doing a mosaic, fitting all the pieces together. My inspiration for these was Pam Garrison's closet.

I'll be putting the clipboards in my etsy shop.
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.

The most fun

I got together a few days ago with three wonderful, like-minded, talented women.  We crafted, ate, talked and most important, we laughed.  With all of our ephemera scattered across the table we made our tiny collages.  And then, all being novices, we sandwiched our collages between glass and soldered them together.  I think they came out pretty good.  We even added jump rings.

Here's Jane soldering away using her helping hand that Deidre brought as gifts for all of us.  Jane brought the hugest pile of old books and and flash cards for us to cut up and use. She is so talented and has a great sense of humor.  Jane is an editor at large for Country Living Magazine and she wrote about our play date on her blog also.  Check it out here.

Here we have Karen, who is a very talented fine art photographer. She brought the most delicious homemade quiche for our lunch and a scone mix that I can't wait to try.  She has her own website.

Deidre rounded out our group.  She is such a talented designer and the absolute master at displaying. Her booth in the Hillsboro Antique Mall always looks so polished and inviting.  The helping hand jewelry tool that she brought for each of us came in so handy.

There is something about getting together with girlfriends and doing something that you enjoy that is so fulfilling.  Everyone brings something different to the mix.  We've already decided that we are doing this again.  Can't wait girls.
