My dad and Cape Cod

This is my dad---and my hero.  He is an incredible man.  At 89 years old he is still going strong.111_1182

My husband and I recently came back from a trip to Cape Cod with him.  We took long walks, ate great food, laughed a lot and even flew a kite on the beach.  He has such a great zest for living, still working out at the gym and swimming almost daily.  He's also writing his memoirs, performing in plays and speaking to groups of high schoolers.  Here are some pictures from our trip.

Latest flea market booty

I just love collecting all these treasures.  I don't always know what I will do with them, but I know I will need them someday.

I had this book when I was a little girl and I just love all kinds of dictionaries.

Shabby mosaics

These are two of my favorite shabby pieces.  I love to work with all the florals and pastels.

Can't wait to show you all my new flea market finds.  I'll post them in the next day or two.

Combining collage and mosaics

I love to collage and mosaic, so I combined both in one project.

tiles for sale

I put some tiles on etsy if anyone is interested in making a mosaic themselves.  The pieces are cut from chipped or broken dishes.  I guess you could say I'm recycling.

Cute couple

They make a cute couple. Don't they?106_0664 107_0732

Vintage catalogs

Several weeks ago I picked up some old Better Homes and Gardens catalogs.  I'm not quite sure why I like them so much.  Of course I like them because they are old, but it is something more than that.  They remind me of a simpler, more innocent time.  Maybe it's just that my perspective is different now.  What do you think?

Brimfield

When I went to visit my girlfriend Cheryl in Massachusetts two weeks ago we took a trip to Brimfield. Heavenly, just heavenly.  You know what I mean.  Old stuff as far as the eye can see.  Here are a few snaps I took while I was thereIMG_1497IMG_1498IMG_1500
This is Cheryl(on the left) with her friend Cary.  Cary had a booth filled with wonderful ephemera.  She is also in an antique mall in Concord, MAIMG_1501
Marcia, from Tinsel Trading Company in New York City was also there. She had the most gorgeous vintage flowers and trims.  I had a good time picking out what I wanted for my personal stash. Here I am with Marcia(on the left) in her booth.IMG_1502.
These are some of my latest journals on which I use my vintage trim.  IMG_1313

I can't wait to start using the flowers that I bought from Marcia.  I'm thinking I might put a few on Etsy too.

Fairy House

I just finished a mosaic fairy house for my friend Karen Hillman. She is a fine art photographer. Her hand-tinted black and white portraits are amazing. Check out her work at www.karenhillman.com. Since she uses vintage attire and props, she had an idea to build a fairy house out of vintage windows and have one side done in pique assiette. That's where I came in. I used vintage china to mosaic one side and them my friends Diedre and Deanie constructed a house. And voila, a fairy house was built. Karen furnished the inside and did an amazing job.Img_1490
